Fred Nagarvala has a degree in mathematics and a post-graduate diploma in management. He was in charge of the MIS department at Aventis India until the creative beast within him could stand it no longer. One day it broke free, and Fred found himself transformed into a graphic designer – an excellent one at that. He trained for some time with Rabia Gupta Designs, then joined A&R and proceeded to transform us. Fred’s dynamic ideas and designs have resulted in some of our most successful work.

Parminder Singh Thapar studied science, got a postgraduate degree in management, worked in sales with Ranbaxy, then joined Ciba-Geigy as a product manager. There, he impressed the CEO of Pratibha Advertising enough to be offered the post of Client Servicing Manager. When he had learnt enough about the advertising business, he founded A&R in May 1993. He has played a crucial role in every one of A&R's major projects, and has built a solid client base of multinational and Indian corporations. He works closely with clients, often contributing significantly to marketing strategy. His ability to internalize a brief and then get the most out of the creative team has led to the launch of many successful brands.

A graduate in Eng Lit, Uttam Sirur has worked with A&R since just after it started up. His previous agencies include Trikaya Grey, Lintas, and Enterprise, where his work won several awards. He likes ferreting out obscure facts which may come in useful in some campaign years hence. From time to time he works on screenplays, and has co-written one for a film which premiered at Cannes and won the Best Film award at a Mumbai’s MAMI festival.

Kunal Puri graduated in English Literature, which made it natural for us to take him on as a copywriter. It turned out he was also a whiz at computers and a natural at design. He quickly became our in-house film specialist, turning out productions in Flash, Director and After Effects at amazing speed. His scripts turn on compelling ideas to which he adds arrestingly layered graphics, animation and music. As if that weren’t enough, he’s also great at client servicing.

An MBA in marketing and advertising, Gieve Acidwalla was director of client servicing at Raka Advertising, where he worked on some very prestigious accounts, including Standard Chartered Bank, and Amas Bank of Switzerland. Hardworking, focused, and with strong brand management skills, he is a key member of our core management team.

Nadeem Siddiqui knows the pharma business inside out. He was with Hoechst through its transitions to Sanofi Aventis (rising from sales rep to product manager), then joined Novartis where he rose to marketing manager, and now, at A&R, he’s still on the ascent. A science graduate with a diploma in German, he handles accounts with an unsurpassed depth of knowledge.

Ashutosh Haldipur used to be a client, and one we were in awe of. He would go through everything we presented with a fine-tooth comb, pointing out mistakes that had slipped our attention, gently urging us to improve. When we improved enough, he decided to join us. Now nothing goes into print if it doesn’t meet his approval.

Nikhil Nayak is full of surprises. A self-taught digital expert, he came to us from the world of banking, where he’d honed his skills in online advertising. He knows all about digital marketing and can do anything from planning digital campaigns and coding in HTML & jQuery to writing an article for Wikipedia. Oh, and did we tell you he has a commercial pilot’s license?

Sanjay Kudale knows what good advertising is – he’s been on the juries of the Rx Club Awards and the New York Festival Global Awards. Even more important, he creates good advertising. He won an Rx Gold in 2008, which got him on the jury. His work has also made the finals of the Clio and Global Awards. We are very glad to have him on board and look forward to the awards he’s going to win for A&R.

Xerxes Mody brings a mainstream advertising sensibility to pharma advertising -- he began his copywriting career at Leo Burnett. A pop culture encyclopedia, he can quote extensively and accurately from episodes of Batman and Blackadder that no one else can remember.

The advantage of having a doctor on our roster cannot be emphasized enough. Dr. Nazish Pathan didn’t just top her university when she graduated in medicine, but dug deeper into science with a PG in Clinical Research. She spent 6 years in Belle-Vue Hospital as a RMO and PRO, before taking up the profile of Medical Officer Claims at Family Health Plan Ltd. for a year. A practicing clinician before joining A&R, her scientific insights help brand communications to be more precise and relevant.
